AGV: INNOVATION, HEART AND TECHNOLOGY AT EICMA 2017 WITH THE LAUNCH OF THE REVOLUTIONARY SPORTMODULAR HELMET AND THE AGV LEGENDS COLLECTION
Milan, EICMA 2017, November 7th, 2017 – In the 70th year since the production of its first helmet, AGV chooses EICMA as the stage to launch two extremely important projects. SPORTMODULAR combines the performance of a sports helmet with the comfort of a touring modular helmet, and AGV Legends is the new tribute collection that reinterprets the iconic models worn by Agostini and Pasolini with a modern twist.
The revolutionary SPORTMODULAR combines the practicality of a modular helmet with the best features of a MotoGP helmet: safety (impact resistance on par with the Pista GP R), compactness, design inspired by the world of sports, and lightness (just 1,295 grams/2.85 lbs). The only modular helmet in the world built entirely of carbon, including the chin guard, the SPORTMODULAR was designed in accordance with the AGV Extreme Standards development protocols. The helmet, counting the panoramic visor with a 190° horizontal view, passed very strict test on 18 points of impact. Thousands of hours in the wind tunnel enabled the development of a helmet with extraordinary soundproofing, ventilation and stability characteristics, making it ideal to meet the needs of those who ride touring bikes that are increasingly similar to sports bikes in terms of power, performance and riding style.
“For us, safety means paying a great deal of attention to how the needs of motorcycle riders evolve,” points out Cristiano Silei, CEO of the Dainese Group. “SPORTMODULAR is a revolutionary helmet created for today’s motorcycle riders who want safety, comfort, performance and sporty design. All in one helmet. After all, we only have one head.”
Out of the archives of the brand founded in 1947 comes AGV Legends, the project that takes helmets worn by the greatest riders from the past, redefining them for the modern age. The X3000 worn by Giacomo Agostini was one of the most winning models in motorbike history, with its famous tricolor motif that inspired the AGV logo. The limited edition AGO 1 is a faithful reproduction that blends the original graphic style, shape and colors with the modern-day quality, comfort and safety found in today’s AGV helmets. This iconic helmet replicates details like the contoured chin piece, which Agostini recommended so that he could lean on the tank more easily, and introduces constructive solutions of today, like the ventilation device hidden within the visor and the embroidered leather interior that is completely removable.
State-of-the-art comfort and safety are carefully concealed so that the legendary design remains unchanged, like in the X70, the jet helmet that pays tribute to Renzo Pasolini, Agostini’s adversary on the track and popular motorcycle hero in the 1960s. Paso didn’t like full-face helmets, which is why the model inspired by the rider from Romagna integrates the original open-face aesthetics with advanced safety standards and portability.
“To celebrate our roots through epic pages in motorcycle racing. To experience again and enable others to experience these emotions,” continues Silei. “As a tribute to Ago and Paso, we have transposed their style into two gorgeous helmets that boast the most cutting-edge technical characteristics around today. Because legends last forever.”
