Guy Martin

In the motorcycle racing world, the acrobatic Guy Martin is a totally unique individual who can win people over with his disarming candour and insatiable thirst for speed.

Born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England on November 4, 1981, Martin inherited a passion for motorcycles from his father from the earliest age, his father being a former private TT rider. Martin started his career in Road Racing in 1998, and made his debut at the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy in 2004.

Over the years he made his mark as one of the most popular Road Racing riders, and picked up numerous wins in races such as the Ulster GP and the Southern 100. He rose to the TT podium 15 times, but without achieving his long-awaited success.

DESPITE HIS FAME, MARTIN HAS CONTINUED TO WORK AS A MECHANIC AT HIS HEAVY VEHICLES WORKSHOP IN GRIMSBY.

In 2011, he acted in the docu-film on the TT entitled Closer To The Edge, and in 2014 he took part in the legendary uphill time trial Pike’s Peak, taking first place in his category.

Despite his fame, Martin has continued to work as a mechanic at his heavy vehicles workshop in Grimsby. Meanwhile, thanks to his genuine and unconventional personality, Guy has also become a TV personality in Great Britain. In his program “Speed with Guy Martin” – broadcast on a national network – he attempts to beat a series of incredible speed records, including that of the fearsome “Wall of Death”.

In 2016 he declined to participate in the TT and took a year off from racing to participate in the Tour Divide, a gruelling 4000 kilometre challenge in the United States… on a mountain bike. But the lure of the Isle of Man is too strong. In 2017, Martin is back on the Mountain roads to obtain the only result he has not yet achieved: victory.
