Misano Adriatico, September 10, 2016 – According to tradition, for the San Marino and Rimini Coast Grand Prix, Valentino showed up on the track for this morning’s qualifying laps wearing a special AGV Pista GP R helmet with a new graphic. This year the theme is the priceless relationship with his childhood friend Alessio Salucci, better known as “Uccio”, currently Valentino’s assistant and sportive director at VR46 Racing Team and VR46 Riders Academy.

With strong reference to the famous movie The Blues Brothers, Valentino and Uccio pose as Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi in the graphic on the top of the helmet. The AGV tricolor logo, the distinctive element that for more than 20 years now has supported Valentino throughout his incredible career, dominates the front the tips of the spoiler. Uccio’s fist leans on top of the central logo, showing his nickname tattooed on his fingers. “Sweet Home Misano” is written on the back of the helmet, evoking the movie’s well-known song and paying tribute to the many fans that crowd into the Misano World Circuit, the home track, to support him. The biplane spoiler is decorated with the distinctive neon yellow 46. The helmet also features several amusing details referring to the movie that inspired The Doctor and the designer Aldo Drudi. His adored dogs Cesare and Cecilia and his beloved red cat Rossano, all wearing Rayban Wayfarer sunglasses, sit on the nape, and on the chin guard the Bluesmobile is illustrated, the retired police car the Blues Brothers used to drive.

The Pista GP R is the evolution of AGV’s groundbreaking Pista GP, the Moto GP helmet, and is the most protective helmet ever developed. This full carbon helmet specifically designed for racing, was unveiled at the beginning of the race weekend to Moto GP professionals and international press during a special Dainese and AGV event held at the Riviera Golf Resort (San Giovanni in Marignano, RN). The helmet offers an increased field of vision through the introduction of Race 3 Max Pinlock®, a Class 1 Optic visor with 100% Max Vision Pinlock® (120) and the patented Visor Lock System (VLS). Aerodynamic performance has been optimized through the use of the new wind-tunnel-tested Biplano rear spoiler, while comfort benefits from the patented interior structure and an implemented Integrated Ventilation System (IVS). Pista GP R is the first helmet to include a hydration system, featuring a series of channels and a valve positioned inside the chin area. The Pista GP R is the perfect synthesis of protection, performance and comfort, a result of AGV Extreme Standards, innovative protocols for integrated design that has revolutionized the design method. It also enables significant measurable improvements to the helmet performance in terms of impact protection, field of vision, compact design, weight reduction, aerodynamics, ventilation and ergonomics. The innovative AGV Extreme Standards process raises the level of technology in the research and development for helmets and represents a milestone in head protection systems.
