As is tradition at his home track, Valentino Rossi treated all of us at Misano to a new helmet featuring a cartoon like character created by Aldo Drudi.

The nine times World Champion likened himself to a boxer hanging on to the ropes with his bruised face covered in plasters, missing a few teeth and sporting a black eye as if to parody his season so far.

A battered but unbeaten Valentino asks: "How am I doing?" Even his faithful bulldogs Cesare and Cecilia are kitted out with boxing gloves on their paws, ready for the fight. It's a good metaphor - Valentino has taken more than his fair share of knocks of this season, but he's stayed on his feet in the middle of the ring and hasn't been knocked out.

The new funny and ironic graphic design will be available in a limited edition of the Gp Tech helmet, AGV's top of the range model. Taking the best from previous models and all of AGV's race experience, the GP-Tech helmet combines lightness, ventilation and comfort with a highly innovative and aerodynamic design.

The helmet is fully made in Italy in a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly factory where water-based paints are used to prevent pollution.

The special edition is on sale at official AGV dealerships  to at a RRP of 779€

The images are of the PistaGp helmet worn by Valentino during the race at Misano 2012. The sponsors' logos and visor accessories will not be included on the "Beaten up boxer" limited edition Gp-tech model.
