Paulin 3rd in MX1 World Championship Series
Fifth place in the final German GP was enough to finish in 3rd place overall in the premier class.
Teutschenthal (Germany), 23 September 2012 – Gautier Paulin came home in fifth place in this sixteenth and final round of the season to take third place overall in the MX1 class of the World Championship Series.
This results reflects both the class and determination he showed in his first year in the Premier Class where he was very much one of the star riders. "All things considered, a good season" – said the French rider after the German GP - "could have been better, could have been worse". "I started well, had a few problems that I managed to deal with then concentrated on keeping my third place safe. I'd like to dedicate this result to everyone who believed in me and helped me reach my goal and I'd start with Kawasaki and AGV who provided me with an AX-8 helmet that kept me safe and comfortable at all times. In my first year on an official KX-F 450, I made several unfortunate mistakes but these gave me more experience and I have to say that I'm really proud to have finished behind champions like Antonio Cairoli and the outstanding Clement Desalle”.
Just before moving to Germany for the last race, Gautier was officially confirmed as a Kawasaki team rider for 2013 alongside the Belgian rider Jeremy Van Horebeek. Gautier came home fourth in the first race and fifth in the second keeping the Russian Evgeny Bobryshev behind him the whole time.
Paulin will close the World Championship season on 30 September at Lommel at the FIM Motocross of Nations where he will form part of the French team alongside Xavier Boog and Marvin Musquin.
